Nathan Ray Veillon, 81, of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 30, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on July 28, 1944, in Oberlin, Louisiana, Nathan spent his early years rooted in his Cajun heritage, a heritage he proudly carried throughout his life. At age nine, his family moved to Port Arthur, Texas, where he would spend most of his life in the Golden Triangle before relocating to Spring in 2018. No matter where life took him, Nathan never lost touch with family and friends, maintaining lifelong relationships that meant the world to him.

Nathan was a man of deep faith, unwavering loyalty, and boundless generosity. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he lived his life guided by his Catholic faith, love of country, and commitment to those he cared about. He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era and carried that same spirit of service throughout his life.

In 1979, Nathan married the love of his life, Karen Theriot. Together they built a marriage filled with love, faith, laughter, and family. Over the years, he embraced Karen’s family as his own, forming close and lasting bonds that enriched his life.

Nathan was known for his quick wit, sharp sense of humor, and ability to make people laugh when they needed it most. He possessed an unmatched work ethic and took pride in every task he undertook. In his younger years, he was an accomplished drag racer whose competitive spirit earned him numerous trophies and lasting memories. Whether working on a project, helping a neighbor, or lending a hand to family and friends, Nathan could always be counted on to show up and get the job done.

He devoted countless hours to serving others and his community, including helping build St. Helen Catholic Church in Orangefield, where he was a faithful parishioner for many years. He found joy in the outdoors, took great pride in maintaining a beautifully kept yard, and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Dallas Cowboys, Texas A&M Aggies, and Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Nathan dedicated more than 20 years of his career to Bethlehem Steel and later served as Hydraulic Superintendent at United Marine for 14 years before retiring. He was also a proud member of Boilermakers Local 587 in Orange, Texas.

More than any accomplishment, Nathan treasured his family. He loved gathering with relatives and friends, sharing stories, enjoying Cajun food and music, and creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His steady presence, generous spirit, and unconditional love leave a legacy that will continue for generations.

Nathan was preceded in death by his parents, Absei and Lella Veillon; his sister, Vivian Veillon Cox; and his parents-in-law, Rivers and Alice Theriot.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Karen Theriot Veillon; his son, Derek Ray Veillon; his daughter, Kelly Veillon Valerio, and son-in-law, Richard Valerio; his cherished grandchildren, Kasslyn Veillon, Rivers, Blaire, Rhett, and Ryan Valerio; his sisters-in-law, Beverly Landrum, Sherry Parker, Jan Tomlin, and Debbie Theriot; his brother-in-law, Greig Theriot; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation and Rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City, followed by interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Port Arthur.

Serving as pallbearers will be Greig Theriot, Mike Parker, Howard LeMaire, Chuck Landrum, David Tomlin, Blake Dumesnil, and Rivers Valerio. Honorary pallbearer will be Rhett Valerio.

Though his earthly journey has ended, Nathan's faith, strength, humor, and love will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
