Neil Lawrence Ayers, 59, of Orange, passed away on December 10, 2020 in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 19, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon David Bonneaux. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary starting at 6:00 p.m., Friday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina, on July 9, 1961, he was the son of Rosita Orta. Neil proudly and honorably served his county in the United States Navy aboard the USS Saratoga for 4 years and spent 2 in the reserves. He could fix anything he put his hands on and loved being outdoors. A few of his favorite things were cooking his family favorites gumbo and chili, shooting guns, and golfing. Neil also known as “Pawpaw” was a family man above all else and adored his grandchildren more than anything. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Teresa; mother, Rosita Orta of Orange; children, Jeffery Koob and wife Kimberly of Orange, Jason Ayers and wife Emily of Beaumont, Nicholas Ayers and wife Korri of Orange, and Nicole Ayers Lecca and husband Arthur; grandchildren, Elyas Koob, Imogen Koob, Ginger Ayers, Emma Lecea, Jayden Lecea, Esteban Lecea, and one on the way; sister, Bonnie Bufford and husband Ricky of Orange; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Arthur Lecea, Freddy Guerra, Cody DeRoche, Derrick Bufford, Dillan DeRoche, and Albert Solorzano.
