Nelda Elliott Calfee
Nelda Elliott Calfee, 83, of Orange, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, at Pinehurst Nursing Center.
Friends are invited to join the family for a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.
Leading the service will be Eugene Darwin and members of Harvest Chapel. They ministered to Mrs. Calfee every Monday at the nursing home and were truly a blessing to her.
There will be no visitation.
Born on May 22, 1926, in Yarbrough, Texas, Mrs. Calfee was the daughter of Pauline Dorman and Carl E. Elliott, Sr.
She attended college at Louisiana State University, University of Texas and graduated from Sam Houston State University.
Mrs. Calfee was a school teacher having taught in Kinder, Louisiana, Orange, Vidor, Beaumont and Buna.
Preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Carl E. Elliott, Sr; brother, Carl E. Elliott, Jr. and nephew, Kevin M. Daniels, Mrs. Calfee is survived by her sisters, Bobbie Daniels Walters and Jackie Croley, both of Orange; nephews, Gregory L. Harper and his son, Simon, Cole Daniels and niece, Leigh Harper, all of Houston.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Pinehurst Nursing Center and Southeast Texas Hospice for the love and care given to Mrs. Calfee.
Arrangements are under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
