Nellie Mae Dockens Holt, 98, of Orange passed away Friday, January 6, 2012, at The Meadows in Orange.
A Graveside Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2012, at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont with Reverend Lynn Ashcraft, officiating.
Born in Center, Texas on June 4, 1913, Nellie was the daughter of John Thomas Dockens and Van Dora Oswalt. She moved to Orange from Shelby County on June 30, 1943. Nellie taught at Curtis School during the Second World War. She owned and operated the 10th Street Day Nursery for many years. Nellie was a member of First Baptist Church in Orange.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Otho Hearne Holt; son, Ray Finley Holt; daughters, Linda Lou Holt Reeves and Sandra Sue Holt Baldwin; grandson, Shawn Reeves; four sisters, and two brothers
Nellie is survived by her sons, Charles H. Holt and wife, Marion, and Carroll Gene Holt; grandchildren, Caron Lee Holt, Russell Holt and wife, Yvette, Carey Holt and wife, Stacey and Donna King; great-grandchildren, Robert Gooding, Hope Hernandez, Anna Lecia Holt, Griffin Holt and Kendall Holt.
