Noel Foster “Red” Hyder, Jr., 83, of Orange, Texas, passed away on February 22, 2018, in Port Arthur, Texas.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, February 26, 2018, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Born in Blum, Texas, on January 11, 1935, he was the son of Noel Foster Hyder, Sr. and Dorothy Heath Hyder. Foster served our country in the Navy, during the Korean Conflict. He had a vacation home in Durango, Colorado where he loved to snow ski. Foster enjoyed spending time at Toledo Bend Lake, he loved to cook and watch old western movies. He was a true handy man, often having many projects including building his own house and pool. Foster coached Little League baseball, soccer, football and basketball and was a member of the V.F.W. He cherished the time he got to spend with family and friends and will be dearly missed by all those who came to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Noel and Dorothy Hyder; and sisters, Maxine Tatum, Donna Mazzella and Mary Ann Dake.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda Hyder; sons, Richard Hyder and wife Debbie of Orange, Greg Hyder and wife Denise of Wylie, and Chris Hyder and wife Heidi of Orange; grandchildren, Jessi Hyder, Baylie Comeaux, Chase Comeaux and wife Amber, Austin Hyder, Corwin Hyder, Nathan Hyder and Reagan Hyder; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Lela Comeaux; brother, Harry Cobb; sisters-in-law, Dixie Reynolds and Connie Adams; brother-in-law, Philip Pearson; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Gilbert, Matthew Gilbert, Glen Askew, Chase Comeaux, Austin Hyder, Corwin Hyder, Nathan Hyder and Reagan Hyder.
