Norma Jean Inlow Schomerus

November 5, 1930 — January 6, 2012

Norma Jean Inlow Schomerus took her final step from this life into the next on Friday, January 6, 2012, in Reno, Nevada. Illness took its toll on her mind and body, but her spirit remained strong and her faith grounded in her Lord. She died peacefully among family members, friends, and angels.

Norma was born in Fort Worth, Texas. Both of her parents were ministers, and Norma traveled with her family throughout southeast Texas in her early years. During her life, Norma was a bank teller, an elementary school teacher, a real estate agent, and a dress shop owner. Norma found her calling late in life—she became a drug and alcohol relapse counselor for the state of Texas. Norma developed a deep faith in God at an early age. Her faith was the foundation and purpose of her life.

Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Densil Schomerus, and her parents, James and Vera Inlow. Norma is survived by her children, Marc Schomerus and daughter-in-law Shirley, and daughter Brenda Slaughter and son-in-law Dale. Norma is also survived by her beloved sister, Margie Williams. Her legacy lives on in grandchildren Michelle Purvis, Courtney May, and Whitney Schomerus. Norma was graced with one great-granddaughter, Avery May.

Mimi, you will forever be a part of your family's lives. You will live in our hearts, our thoughts, our words, and our deeds.

Those who wish may make donations to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Norma.

A memorial service celebrating Norma's life will be held March 24, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
