Odette Simar, 100, of Orange, died Sunday, March 13, 2011, at The Meadows in Orange.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011, at St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Orange, with Father Joseph P. Daleo, serving as celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Mary?s Cemetery in Orange, under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Odette was born March 31, 1910, in New Iberia, Louisiana, the daughter of Cyprien and Lawrence Decuir Aucoin. She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church and St. Mary?s Choir. She was a charter member of Catholic Daughters of America, St. Cecilia Court #1396. As a volunteer with The Red Cross Motor Corps, she was responsible for driving people to Galveston for medical treatment.
Preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Simar and her son and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Jean Simar, Odette is survived by her grandchildren, Paul and Cindy Simar of Austin, Gina Simar and James Simar and Tammy Stark, of Orange; and great grandchildren, Jessica Worrel and her husband, David of Denver, Colorado and Jennifer Simar of Austin.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Mary?s School Foundation, Orange Campfire or The Red Cross.
