Ona Mae Tevis

November 17, 1922 — February 12, 2008

Funeral services for Ona Mae Gilmore Tevis, 85, of Beaumont, will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Robert Miller of North End Baptist Church will officiate with interment to follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive guests at the funeral home on Wednesday between 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Tevis was born November 17, 1922 in Nome, TX to James and Jennie Mae Gilmore and passed away on February 12, 2008 in Beaumont, TX. She attended Nome schools until she transferred in her junior year to San Marcos Baptist Academy where she was graduated in 1941.
Mrs. Tevis met her husband, Dave Lawrence Tevis, Sr. on February 26, 1942; they married on April 17, 1942 and celebrated 48 years together before Mr. Tevis' death. She was a long-time member of North End Baptist Church and a 30 year member of the Eastern Star Wisteria Chapter #823.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Floyd Gilmore of Dayton; sister, Geraldean Cain of Liberty, and brother, Arthur Gilmore of Winnie, TX. Those left to cherish her memory are son, Dave L. Tevis, Jr. of Beaumont, and daughters, Jennie Ruth Tevis Carter of Lafayette, LA and Jeray Lynn Tevis of Beaumont. Grandchildren, Shane, Ronnie, and Clay Carter and Chauna, Lauren & Megan Tevis. Great Grandchildren, Brandon & Megan Carter and Cheyanne Lee and Travis Williams, Jr. She will be missed by her many friends and family.
