Ora Jean Powell- Bass, 87, of Lumberton, Texas, passed away on January 18, 2018, in Lumberton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont, Texas. A graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m., at Ferrell Cemetery in Colmesneil, Texas.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m., at Claybar Kelley Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont.
Born in Colmesneil, Texas, on October 15, 1930, she was the daughter of Allen Elton Cryer and Anner S. Rawls Cryer. Ora was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church in Lumberton. She loved to cook and enjoyed spending her time gardening and tending to her flower beds. Ora loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Anner Cryer; husband of 47 years, Venson “Buck” Powell; husband of 8 years, John Bass; sons, Jerry Venson Powell, Sr. and Clifton Dale Powell; grandson, Jerry Venson Powell, Jr.; and her brothers, Ecil Cryer, Everett Cryer, and PJ Cryer.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Sharon Jean Powell Allen, of Lumberton, Kelly Allen Powell and wife Robin, of Sour Lake, and Carroll Lynn Powell and wife Karen, of Wylie; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and her brother, Aldrich Cryer and wife Betty, of Warren.
