Patricia C. Cloud, 78, of Orange, died Friday, February 26, 2010, at her home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Jerry Rogers of Orange SDA Church. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 15, 1931, Patricia was the daughter of James King Ashley and Madge Elizabeth Hynes. Patricia was a Nurse Educator for McNeese University.

Active in her community, Patricia belonged to the AAUW, and at one time, organized the political campaigns in Orange County for John Tower and George Bush, Sr. As an oncology nurse specialist, she volunteered as a hospice caregiver in the early days of S.E. Texas Hospice, and was a mastectomy consultant for breast cancer patients.

She golfed, snow skied, played tennis, always giving a hundred percent to whatever she did. She was a good woman, and was loved by many.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, James Presley Cloud; and grandson, Brandon Michael Williams.

Patricia is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Luanne and Tim Jones of Joshua; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Lisa Cloud of Orange; daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Doug Mathews of Phoenix, Arizona; and daughter, Jill Smith, of Orange.

She is also survived by her seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Carlos Acosta, of Virginia; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Anita Ashley, of Oklahoma; half brother, James King Ashley, III; and half sister, Ina Jean, of Indiana.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Cloud, Tim Jones, Doug Mathews, Jason Cloud, James Mathews, and Stephen Jones. Honorary pallbearer will be Matthew Smith.
