Patricia Beatrice Hardey, 81, of Orange, Texas, died July 28, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services will be, 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2008 at Winfree Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Keith Royal. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m., Wednesday, at Winfree Baptist Church.
Pat was born on March 28, 1927, in Joplin, MO. She was the daughter of Charles and Vivian Irene Jenkins Sargent. After graduating in 1944 as Valedictorian from Jennings High School, she worked as a clerk for the United States Postal service, retiring after 31 years of service. Pat was a member of the Prime Timers at Winfree Baptist Church as well as Merry Mixers Square Dancers Club for over 20 years. She was also an avid Astros fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Patricia Hardey; sisters, Irene Bahler and Marjorie Gandy; brothers, James Sargent and Bobby Sargent.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 62 years, Jack Hardey; daughter, Ava Joy Wood and husband Thurl of Pearland, TX.; son, Clayton "Pete" Hardey and wife Kathleen of Orange, TX; four grandchildren, Brandon Wood and wife Kim, Natalie Poe and husband James, Shalain Marze and husband Kelly, and Jason Hardey; four great-grandchildren, Mikayla Wood, Maverick Poe, Macoy and Payton Marze; a brother, Tom Sargent of New Iberia, LA.
Serving as pallbearers are Jason Hardey, Brandon Wood, Kelly Marze, Don Sargent, Mark Sargent and Jim Murray. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Toronjo, O.J. Jackson, Oscar "Red" Davis and David O'Neal.
Pat was an extremely devoted and generous wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She made each of us feel special in her own unique way. She will be sorely missed as our "family matriarch."
Donations may be made in Patricia's name to Southeast Texas Hospice or Winfree Baptist Church building fund.
