Pauline Little Soape

1939 ∼ 2014

Pauline Little Soape, 74, a long time Vinton resident, passed away peacefully on November 15, after a gradual decline in health.

A native of Hackberry, Pauline attended various schools throughout the South and Southwest United States as her family moved for her father’s work in the oilfield before graduating from LaGrange High School in Lake Charles. Pauline participated in high school rodeo and was crowned Louisiana High School Rodeo Queen in 1956.

Pauline was a loving mother, grandmother and friend, who loved to dance. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church. Pauline worked various jobs through the years including hair dresser, bus driver, pony rider, convenience store clerk and construction worker. Pauline enjoyed several hobbies and spent many years supporting her children by volunteering at school and assisting with various activities including rodeo and 4-H. Pauline loved to visit with family, friends and everyone else she met, as she never met a stranger.

She was preceded in death by husband Don Soape; son Casey L. Soape; and parents Zephrine “Zero” and Ruby Little.

She is survived by son George Soape; daughters Paula Soape Thompson, and husband Bill, and Wendy Soape; grandchildren Casey A. Soape, Annabelle Thompson, Layla Soape and Mia Thompson; sister Patsy and husband Robert L. Trahan, Jr.; brothers Jerry Little and wife Judi and William “Billy Bob” Little and wife Connie; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm Monday, November 17, 2014, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with a funeral service on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, officiated by Pastor Rob Tibbits of Crossroads Baptist Church in Vinton, Louisiana, at 2:00pm A graveside service will be at 11:00 am, on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Old Center Cemetery in Center, Texas.

I hadn't seen Pauline since I moved from Vinton. At that time, she was a good friend and a sweet person. I often wondered how she was doing. I know she will be missed. She was a woman in every since.
