Peter David Lynd

Peter David Lynd, 87, of Bridge City, lost his battle to cancer on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at home.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Keith Royal and Reverend Michael Lynd. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City.

Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on January 21, 1935, He was the son of Barney and Eunice (Stout) Lynd. Pete was a caring and loving man who was always helping others. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High school. Pete loved to be outside where he could go fishing or crabbing, that was something he really enjoyed doing. Pete will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Eunice Lynd; siblings, James Lynd, Arthur Lynd, and Bernard Lynd; granddaughter, Jamie Brown; and his first wife, Marilyn Ketelers Lynd.

Pete is survived by his wife, Shirley Dukes Lynd; daughters, Sue Groff, Kristi Harvey, and Karin Leger and spouse Ronnie; stepsons, Bobby Frasier and John Frasier; sisters, Eunice Walden, Dorthy Roddam, Patricia Bell, and Daisy Taylor and spouse Fred; brother, Dan Lynd; stepchildren, Carol Wolfe and Kenneth Jenkins; grandchildren, Aaron Leger and wife Tiffany, Stefan Leger and wife Kate, Melisa Groff, Amy Groff, David Groff and wife Heather, Meredith McMurray and husband Tom, Sarah Bartlett and husband John, Caleb Harvey, and Nathan Harvey; brother-in-law, Carmon Dukes, Jr.; sister-in-law, Ina Hanson and spouse Glenn; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Hanson, Kenneth Jenkins, Dan Lynd, Steve Lynd, Bobby Fraiser, and Daniel LeBlanc.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Missions at First Baptist Church in Bridge City at 200 West Round Bunch Road, Bridge City, Texas 77611.
