Phyllis E. Powell McLaughlin, 78, of the Pinewood addition of Sour Lake, Texas passed away Saturday, June 6, 2009.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Claybar Funeral home on 11th St. in Beaumont, Texas. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m, Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Chapel. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
There will be a gathering of friends and family immediately following services at the home of Tom and Eva Oglesbee in Beaumont.
Mrs. McLaughlin was born July 11, 1930 in Newark, OH to Wilfred R. Powell and Dolores K. Jacobs Powell. She loved to decorate her home, yard and pool area and loved interior design. Phyllis was a lifelong florist, manager of Pinewood Country Club now Idylwild and worked for American Real Estate.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jack L. McLaughlin; her parents; sister, Joan E. Powell Larimore; brothers-in-law, Charles 'Chuck' McLaughlin, Leo Reichert, John Larimore and her mother and father-in-law, Kathleen Moore McLaughlin and Thomas A. McLaughlin.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Michele C. McLaughlin Oglesbee and husband Jerry; her grandson Thomas 'Tad' Oglesbee and wife Regina; great grandchildren, Jozlyn and twins Xander and Xaidee Oglesbee of Sour Lake and her sister, Awanna Lou Powell Reichert of Newark, Oh. as well as loving nieces and nephews Celeste Friedman, Debbie Beany, Matt and Luke Larimore, Tom and Matt McLaughlin all of Ohio.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at Len Rose Place for their kindness, love and support as well as everyone at Professional Health Care Hospice.
