Born in Picayune, Mississippi, on September 3, 1960, she was the daughter of Dewie Joseph Meyers and Josephine Elvie (Gaspard) Meyers. At a young age Phyllis and her family moved to New Iberia, LA where she was raised and
graduated from NISH in 1978. Phyllis embraced life with an unparalleled enthusiasm, always finding joy in the simplest of things. She had a special place in her heart for her online community, where she formed lasting friendships and shared countless cherished memories. When it came to hobbies and interests, Phyllis had a true love for music and dancing. Even during exercise sessions, she would put on her favorite tunes and dance like nobody was watching. Another activity that brought Phyllis great pleasure was playing pool. She skillfully maneuvered the pool cue with confidence, creating thrilling moments filled with friendly competition. As much as Phyllis adored lively indoor activities, she had an undeniable love for spending time at the beach. She was a devout Catholic, and her faith was an integral part of her life. It brought her solace, hope, and a sense of purpose. Her vibrant spirit, infectious laughter, and warm embrace will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dewie and Elvie Meyers; brother, James Meyers; and brother-in-law, Joseph Maturin.
