Prent "Pete" Craig, 92, of Beaumont passed away April 26, 2009 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital – Beaumont. He was born to Willis Curtis and Pearl Smith Craig June 1, 1916 in Bronson, TX.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jessie Wright of Caney Creek Open Door Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. preceding the memorial service.
Mr. Craig was employed as a welder at Bethlehem Steel for 23 years prior to joining the City of Beaumont as a Park Ranger for another 27 years. He was a member of the combat engineers in the U. S. Army during World War II.
Surviving him are his wife, Mary S. Craig; son, Billy Ray Craig and wife, Lee of Lumberton; daughter, Linda Waugh and husband, Steve of Beaumont; grandchildren, Brian, Brandon and Brad Waugh, Tammy Swearingen, Jennifer Lynn Bickham and Priscilla Renee Craig; three great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Three sisters, Ollie Rash, Frances Hatcher and Leva Booth also survive Mr. Craig.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters, Abbie Caringer and Audie Ensley and brothers, Bob Craig and J. C. Craig.
