R.L. “Woody” Woodard, 84, of Bridge City, passed away on December 13, 2020, in Beaumont.
Services will be private under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Jasper, Texas, on October 8, 1936 he was the son of James Edward Woodard and Ruby Lovis (Burns) Woodard. Woody loved all things hot rod related and was very involved in the drag racing community. He honorably served in the United States Army. Woody worked as a full-time mechanic and enjoyed every minute he got to work with his hands. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and watching football. Woody was a one of a kind man and will be deeply missed by all those who came to love him throughout the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Woodard.
He is survived by loving wife, Lerlene Mary Woodard; children, Rhonda Sue Guntner and husband Mike of Nederland, Cindy Kay Arquit and husband Marc of Montgomery, Ricky Lynn Woodard and wife Sue of Little Cypress, and Randy Lee Woodard of Houston; grandchildren, Kurt Guntner, Misty Jensen, Haley Fortin, Hanna Arquit, Landon Woodard, and Lacy Bickham; 7 great-grandchildren; and siblings, J.E. Woodard, Hubert Woodard, Roy Lee Woodard, Darrel Wayne Woodard and Johnny Ray Woodard.
The family of Woody would like to extend their gratitude for all of Courtney Cormier’s love and care for the past year and a half.
