Randy “Big Ran” Carl Gibson, 63, of Orange passed away on October 15, 2020, at his mother in law’s home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 21, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Pastor John Fortenberry. Burial will follow at King Cemetery in Hartburg.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Panama City, Panama, on September 26, 1957, but moved to Starks, Louisiana when he was less than a year old. He was the son of Carlton Gibson and Idell (Drake) Gibson. Randy played college baseball at Northwestern State University. He worked as a conductor for Union Pacific for 38 years, also serving as the UTU local chairman of the Local 1458. He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting, golfing, having BBQ’s for his family and friends, and supporting all local teams in every sporting event. Randy loved his children dearly and attended every sports game they played in. He also was a member of the chain gang for the Deweyville ball games and enjoyed watching Alabama play ball. Randy also known as “PawPaw” and “Big Ran” loved going on large family vacations to Disney World and adored his family most of all. He left an impact on many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John Gibson and wife Tressa and Clarence Drake and wife Juanita; and father-in-law, Lloyd Stephenson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Deana Gibson of Deweyville; parents, Carlton Gibson and wife Idell; children, Drake Gibson and wife Ana of San Marcos, Tera Cassidy and husband Kyle of Deweyville, and Stephen Gibson and wife Tasia also of Deweyville; grandchildren Mya, Millie, Nate, Miles, and Sullivan; siblings, Donna Brooks and Carla Jordan and her husband Keith; and numerous other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Drake Gibson, Stephen Gibson, Kyle Cassidy, Tanner Hyman, Rick Hyman, Vance Barlow, Carl Barlow, and Thomas Stephenson. Honorary pallbearers are Johnathon Sullivan, Mark Richards, Bryan Ellis, Randy Woodard, Hoss Brown, Stacey Ackley, Joe Berry, Mike Thompson, Brady and Brock Barlow, John Berry, Glenn Stephenson, Zachary Menard, Jimmy Coulter, and all of his Railroad Friends.
