Raul "Roy" Diaz, 81, of Orange, died Saturday, February 23, 2008 at his residence.
A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 27, 2008, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
A gathering of friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
Roy was born on September 15, 1926, in Laredo, TX. He was the son of Antonio and Petra Solis Diaz.
Mr. Diaz was a pipe fitter, welder, and boilermaker. He loved to dance at the VFW on Thursday's nights.
He is preceded in death by his eldest son, Arturo Diaz; brother, Jose Trinida Diaz; and sister, Ramona Flores.
He is survived by his children, Pedro Diaz of Laredo, TX, Mary Victoria Calverley of Aurora, MO, Raul Diaz, Jr. of Orange, Rosalinda Gradney of Aurora, MO, Maria Turner of Orange, Gracie Kauppamaki of Crane, MO, Jose Diaz of Aurora, MO, Juan Diaz of Stephens City, VA, Paula Diaz of Crane, MO, and Andrew Diaz of Ft. Sills, OK; brothers and sisters, Josefina Mendoza, Rodolfo Diaz, and Celestino Diaz all of Laredo, TX.
He is also survived by 45 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
