Ray Joseph Broussard, 88, of Beaumont, Texas, died Friday, October 9, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Officiating will be Pastor E. Dale Lee of Cowboy Church of Orange County. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
Ray was born on December 5, 1920 in Abbeville, Louisiana. He was the son of Anthony Eugene and Ava Landry Broussard.
He worked as a supervisor for Texaco Island in Port Arthur, and was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army. Ray served in the First Calvary and the U.S. Army during WWII. He was attached to the Special Forces for the British Army during that time and was assigned to Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Ava Broussard; first wife, Johnnie Ray Broussard of 43 years; and his beloved dog "Snoopy".
Ray is survived by his wife, Alene Blair Broussard; daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Michael Denton of Orange; son and daughter-in-law, Earl and Donna Broussard of Glenrose, Texas; son, Thomas Broussard of Glenrose, Texas, and son Michael Denton of Orange; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; brother Jerry Lee Broussard and wife Grete of Mauriceville; and three grand-dogs Jan Michele, Sophie Marie, and Chelsea Rene.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas or Cowboy Church of Orange County.
