"Gone Fishing" Raymond Howard Chandler, 85, of Bridge City died Friday, August 7, 2009 in Bridge City.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009 at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Reverend Forrest Wood of First Baptist Church of Orangefield.
A graveside service will be 4:00 p.m., Monday, at Antioch Cemetery in Ratcliff, TX.
Visitation will be from 1:00-9:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.
Ray was born on January 23, 1924 in Turney, TX. He was the son of Wiley Mortin and Maude Lee Petty Chandler. He served 21 years as a teacher and director of West Orange-Cove Skills Center. Ray also served in the U.S. Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Chandler of Bridge City; daughter and son-in-law, Maudine and Stephen Kelley of Bridge City; sons, Kenneth Lee Chandler of Smithville and Glen Hoyt Chandler of Orange; grandchildren, Crystal Wickersham, Lance Chandler and wife, Amy, Jake Chandler, Justin Chandler, and Donna Marie Mather; and great-grandchildren, twins, Caden and Kage Chandler, Taylor Mather, Ethan Mather, and Elijah Chandler.
