Born in Anson, Texas, on May 31, 1935, he was the son of Clyde Henry Mize and Ava Lee (Caffey) Mize. He was a dedicated plumber and the proud owner of Mize Plumbing, contributing to his community through his skill and hard work. Clyde was a man who cherished his time spent with family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren who lovingly referred to him as “Poppy”. He had a deep love for country and gospel music and often enjoyed watching old westerns. Gardening, fishing, and hunting were among his favorite pastimes, and he loved sharing stories about his experiences working in the cotton fields as a young boy. He was a member of Little Cypress Baptist Church, where he found great joy and fellowship. Clyde's warmth and stories will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde H. and Ava Mize; brothers, W.T. Mize and Doyle Mize; twin brother, R.L. Mize; and sisters, Joyce Graham, Sue Hudgins, and Linda Hagler.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Betty Mize; son, Rocky Mize and wife Allyson; daughter, Tracy Mize Andrews and husband John; grandchildren, Reese Mize and wife Kim, Shannon Mize, Jana Berg and husband Shane, and Jonathan Andrews and wife Mandy; great grandchildren, Alyssa Mize, Clayton Mize, Baylee, Natalie, Pressley, Kylie, and Mia; siblings, Ann Black and husband Darrell, Wayne Mize and wife Marilyn, Wanda Liner and husband Jim; sister-in-law, Rhonda Stanley and husband Randy; numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Serving as pallbearers will be Reese Mize, John Andrews, Randy Hudgins, Clayton Mize, Mike Ford and Tanner Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Manley and Lee Ford.

A special thank you to Prescribed Home Health, Pamela Willey and nurses, Mary and Eva for their wonderful care and love they gave. And for Dana Goodwin and staff with Concho Heart Hospice, and to everyone for all the prayers and phones, as well as his neighbors Doug and Jan Childress, and his pastor, David Turner.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Little Cypress Baptist Church.

I had the honor of meeting Mr Mize on a day about 2 years ago after a storm and some trees needed to be cleaned up at his house. We sat together in his golf cart and watched the work happening. I could tell from our conversation that he was a hard worker who loved his family. He was really proud of his son, Rocky. It was an honor to have met him.
