A graduate of LaSalle Parish Highschool, he then moved to Orange in 1960 to work at DuPont as a lab analyst. Wickie retired early at 49 and took a job at Cain Chemical Inc. as a contractor. He loved his family and it was the most important thing to him, often saying "nothing matters more to me than my people." Wickie was selfless and always prepared to lend a hand when needed. His lifelong passions were fishing and serving the Lord., He took his commitment to his church, McDonald Memorial Baptist Church, seriously and proudly dedicated himself to being a Deacon, Servant Leader, Sunday School Director, Training Union Director, a teacher, mentor, and Royal Ambassador Director where he worked with the boys of the church for over 15 years. Wickie lived his life large and to the fullest. He left a lasting impact on everyone who had the joy of knowing him and his smile. From being “superman” down to everyone’s “grandpa”, the legacy he created is immense and will be carried for generations to come.
