Richard Lee McCarver, 70, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on September 22, 2023, at his home in Conroe.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 28, 2023, at First United Pentecostal Church in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Eric Bolenbaucher. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn in Orange.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 28, 2023, at First United Pentecostal Church in Orange.
Born in Orange, Texas, on August 29, 1953, he was the son of William D. McCarver and Lola G. Goldtein McCarver. He was a Staff Sargeant in the Texas National Guard. He worked as a lab technician and volunteer fireman at Huntsman for 25 years as well as spending 20 years with Texaco. Richard was a devoted member for many years of the First United Pentecostal Church where he served as a board member and trustee.
Richard enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips over the years with friends and family. He and Denise enjoyed trips to their cabin in Leakey sitting on the porch stargazing and watching for wildlife. All four of his daughters were special to him, but his five grandchildren really lit up his world! He holds a special place in all of their hearts.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Lola McCarver; his brothers, Billy McCarver, and Phillip McCarver; his brother-in-law, Shawn Hathaway; and his uncle, Van McCarver.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Denise Ruiz; his daughters, Dana Cecil and husband Jeremy, Miranda Sowers and husband Chris, Alisha McCarver, and Randi Fonseca and husband David; his grandchildren, Katelyn Sowers, Easton Cecil, Lauren Sowers, Benson Cecil, and Reagan Sowers; his sister, Becky Hathaway; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Cecil, Chris Sowers, David Fonseca, Cory McCarver, Easton Cecil, and Benson Cecil. Honorary pallbearers are Phillip Williams, Larry Mayfield, and Terry Ritchey.
