Richard T. ?Dick? Polk, Sr., 83, of Bridge City, died Friday, June 10, 2011, at Cypress Glen Nursing Home in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. Officiating will be Mr. Tony Goins of Bridge City Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Born in Heavener, Oklahoma on July 20, 1927, Dick was the son of Hubert and Hazel Smith Polk. He served in the US Navy and retired from Texaco Chemical after 38 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, and he loved being outdoors. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna Jean Polk; and brother, Hubert Polk, Jr.
Dick is survived by his sons, Richard ?Tommy? Polk, Jr. and wife Cassey of Bridge City, Charles Polk and wife Regina of Nederland; daughter, Brenda McKay and husband Brian of Bridge City; grandchildren, Blain Polk, Lance Polk and wife Holly, Lauren Cook and husband Josh, Darla Polk, Brian McKay, Jr., Bailey McKay; great-grandson, Caden Cook; and brother, William ?Bill? Polk and wife Olena of Denison.
Serving as Pallbearers will be John Theriot, Richard Adaway, Mike Davis, Blain Polk, Lance Polk, Brian McKay, Sr., Brian McKay, Jr., and Josh Cook.
