Rickey Dean Carter, 50, of Orange, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Methodist Hospital in Houston.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at McDonald Memorial Baptist Church in West Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Roy A. Parker and Reverend Danny Gilliam.

Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park in the McLewis Community.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Urania, Louisiana on June 21, 1958, Rickey was the son of Richard "Wickie" and Wyetta Wilson Carter.

Rickey was a member of McDonald Memorial Baptist Church. He loved music, fishing and many other outdoor activities. He had a special gift of writing and was working with a company to have a children's story published.

Of all the things Rickey enjoyed, the most important was his family. He loved his girls and took great pride in all they did.

Rickey is survived by his wife, Apryl Carter; parents, Richard "Wickie" and Wyetta Carter; daughters, Emily Carter, Natalie Carter and Sarah Carter.

He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Terry and Don McFarlane, Mona and Raymond LaBove, nephews and nieces, Micah and Luke McFarlane, Brittany and John Austin Chalmer, Tiffany Hamilton, Leslie Perkins, Chevis Perkins and Blake Peveto.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ed Taylor, Luke McFarlane, Micah McFarlane, John Austin Chalmers, Cris Orebo, Chevis Perkins, Scott DeRouen and Raymond LaBove.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Crocker, Roger Minner, Randy Peveto, Kerry Hogg, Dolan Pendarvis and Ricky Manuel.
