Ricky Lynn Coon

October 17, 1956 — January 10, 2025

Ricky Lynn Coon, 68, of Vidor, Texas, passed away on January 10, 2025, at his home in Vidor.

Born in Orange, Texas, on October 17, 1956, he was the son of Dixie Lou Soape. Ricky's life was one marked by dedication, hard work, and a deep love for the simple pleasures that brought him joy. He devoted many years of his life to working as a mechanic, until his well-deserved retirement. Ricky's commitment extends beyond his career; he proudly served in the United States Navy, a chapter of his life that instilled in him values of discipline and service. Beyond his career and service, Ricky found immense enjoyment in life's simple pleasures. He had a fondness for Dr. Pepper, often treating himself to a can while watching his favorite television shows, especially during football season when he would eagerly cheer for his teams. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his love for hunting at the deer lease, and fishing, activities that provided him peace and connection with nature, family, and friends. As we remember Ricky Lynn Coon, we celebrate his life, the memories he created, and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Dixie Lou Soape; his brother, Don Coon; and his granddaughter, Alyssa Coon.

He is survived by his loving wife, Toni Coon of Vidor; his daughters, Melissa Russell and husband, John, of Vidor, and Kimberly Huvar and husband, Kyle, of Carmine; his step-children; his grandchildren, Shane Russell, Destiny Russell, Corbin Baskin, Bailey Huvar, and Sadie Huvar; his step-grandchildren; a great-grandchild on the way; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
