Robert Joseph Crew
Away from the body… at home with our Lord. Robert Joseph Crew, age 93, passed away on January 16, 2024. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Bobby was born October 16th to Irma and Henry Crew in Orange Texas where he lived and worked his entire life. He graduated from Lutcher Stark High School where he excelled at basketball. Bobby married his high school sweetheart, Josephine Fitchett, where they were married for almost 74 years. His career at DuPont Sabine River Works spanned for more than 35 years where he was respected and admired by many. Bobby was an avid fisherman and enjoyed his retirement, also volunteering innumerable hours at Orange Christian services and at the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. Whether playing basketball in high school, working at DuPont, coaching his sons, or the attending to his Church or Orange Christian Services, he was one of Orange’s favorite sons. He was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for helping others.
Bobby loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Crew; sons, Robert Crew Jr. (wife, Eileen) and John Crew (wife, Vicki); niece, Kathryne (husband, Ron); nephew, Bill Crew; granddaughter, Shannon Feeney (husband Conor); grandsons, Darin Crew (wife, Rebecca) and Brian Crew (wife, Delanie) and 7 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30am on Friday, January 19, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in Orange. A reception will be held in the Church immediately following the service.
