Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on March 1, 1952, he was the son of JW Foster and Helen (Kibodeaux) Foster. Within a week of graduating high school, Robert was standing on the yellow feet in San Diego, California beginning his proud service in the United States Marine Corps. After graduating boot camp in May of 1971, Robert helped bring his fellow troops home from the Vietnam war and spent time living at camp Lejeune. He worked his way up to First SGT and earned the title of Rifle Expert and Pistol Expert, as well as a National Defense Service medal and a Vietnam Service medal. After 23 years of service, Robert retired from the United States Marine Corps and worked for Edgeworks Contracts, who made knife sheaths for the military. Robert continued his love for the military by being a member of the VFW, DAV, and the American Legion. He was later employed at Louisiana Works for six months and Workforce Texas for twelve years. Robert also worked as a substitute teacher for Bridge City Independent School District, and at R.V. parks where he would help any traveler with anything he could. He also spent his time volunteering for the “Richter Food Program”. Robert was a member of First Baptist Church in Deweyville, Texas with ties to First Baptist Church in Natchez, St. Paul Methodist Church in Bridge City, and Good Sheppard Lutheran Church in Bridge City. During his time off, Robert enjoyed traveling to new places, but he especially enjoyed camping with his group, the “Good Timers”. Robert loved to race and ride motorcycles and playing with big machines in the dirt. He often thought the more dirt and mud the better. Robert was a good man who accomplished outstanding achievements. His loved ones will hold the memories they have of Robert close to their hearts forever.

He is preceded in death by his parents, JW and Helen Foster.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Debi Richter Foster of Bridge City; daughters, Angela Rutkowski and husband, Eric of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Megan Foster of Largo, Florida; son, Matthew Richter and wife, Jessica of Beaumont, Texas; sister, Diana Hargroder and husband, Scott of Beaumont; brothers-in-law, Chris Richter and wife, Erma of Beaumont, and Doug Richter and wife, Valerie of Bridge City; grandchildren, Angel Bamba of Largo, Emma Rutkowski of Edmond, and Oona Richter of Beaumont; uncle, HG Foster and wife, Fern of Lake Charles, Louisiana; aunt, Shirley Roy and husband, Robert of Pineville, Louisiana; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as many other loving family and friends.
