Robert G. Leonard, 75, of Beaumont died Monday, April 12, 2010 at Baptist Hospital of Beaumont after a lengthy illness.
A graveside service will be Friday, April 16, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home.
Robert, or "Bob" as everyone knew him, was born on April 10, 1935 in Corning, Arkansas to Floyd Lee Leonard and Rosalie Leonard of Doniphan, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife, Katherine "Bebe" Leonard of Beaumont; daughter, Mary Leonard; son, Dennis Leonard of CA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren of CA; sisters, Juanita Batts of DeSota, MO, Lavada Phillips of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Hubert Leonard of Bonne Terre, MO and Sterling Leonard of Hillsboro, MO.
Robert had 3 step-sons, John R. Smith, Stephen Smith and Jeffrey Smith; grandchildren, Margaret Ann Smith, Michael Smith, Stephanie Askew, Brooke Jones and Steele Smith, all of whom were very close to him and he will be greatly missed.
Robert left Missouri at an early age and lived in California where he was employed by an aircraft company. He was a member of the National Guard for 11 years and also worked and retired from International Mill Service after 20 years.
