Robert Gene Brown, 88, died July 26, 2008 in Houston.
A graveside service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 3:00-4:00 p.m., Tuesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Robert was born on June 9, 1920, in Webb City, Missouri. He had served in World War II and married his wife Jane in September 1942. He was a member of carnival glass club and lived and worked in Orange and retired from DuPont. Robert built grandfather clocks and collected and refinished antiques. He also played trombone in the Orange Community Band and served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church in Orange.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Jane Thompson Brown of Houston; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert G. Brown, Jr. and Suzanne of Knoxville, TN, Paul W. Brown and Becky of Houston, and Jim Brown and Nancy of Spring; grandchildren, Heather McMurry of Knoxville, TN, Chris Brown of TN, Kevin Brown of Georgia, Angela Hallmark of Nacogdoches, Brian Brown, and Belinda Covey both of Spring; and 8 great-grandchildren.
