Robert Lee Prosper, 91, "Mr. High Pockets" of Bridge City, Texas, died May 17, 2008 in Lake Charles, LA at his daughter and son-in-law's residence.
Mr. Prosper was born in Loreauville, LA and was raised in Port Arthur, Texas and later in Boliver, Texas where he served as an alter boy. As an older young man he served in the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Navy. He was retired from American Bridge, U.S. Steel in Orange, Texas. He was a devoted husband and loving father. Mr. Prosper was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City, Texas. He was also a fifth degree in the Knights of Columbus.
He leaves in his loving memory, two daughters, Catherine Miller and husband W.E. of Lake Charles, LA and Charlotte Kimball of Austin, Texas; brother, Mert; two sisters, Mabel and Emma; four grandsons, James Candler and wife Judy, Paul "Bubba" Candler and wife Donna, Derek Candler and Kegan Kimball; one granddaughter, Kristen Denson; four great-granddaughters, Emily, Anna, Sophie, and Skyler Candler; and one great-grandson, Carter Denson.
He is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Sadie Ann of 57 years and infant granddaughter, Bianca Kimball; and his sister, Elsie Goodson.
The family would like to express their thanks to Odysey Hospice. Their compassion and tireless efforts will never be forgotten.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m., Monday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Bridge City. A rosary will begin at 7 p.m., Monday.
