Robert Wade Meriwether, 57, of Beaumont passed away on January 14, 2016. He was born on June 5, 1958 to Frances Wade and Betty Loyce (Hulin) Meriwether.
Robert was a graduate of Forest Park High School and attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana. He worked for many years in the oil and gas industry. Robert also worked at Classic Chevrolet and in later years was a General Contractor.
Robert had many interests in life, he loved the outdoors including camping, fishing, playing fetch with the dogs and playing with his grandchildren. He also loved to read, tend his garden and make things with his hands; like birdhouses, wind chimes, washer boards, swing sets and clocks to name a few.
Robert cherished time spent with his family and friends. Most of all he loved the time spent with his grandchildren. His smile lit up a room and he never met a stranger. Robert could talk to and make friends with anyone and was always the first to help.
Robert is survived by his former wife, Paula Meriwether; daughter, Carly Meriwether and her fiancé, Ben Blakeney; two sons, Colby Meriwether and Cory Meriwether; three grandchildren, Kyleigh Meriwether, and Kanton and Kastyn Blakeney; and three brothers, Mike, Alan and David Meriwether.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Frances Wade and Betty Loyce (Hulin) Meriwether and his beloved dog, Sandy.
A memorial service is being planned for February 3, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Claybar Funeral Home Beaumont. A gathering of family and friends will take place beginning at 5:00p.m. prior to the memorial service.
