Robert W. Wilson, 97, of Orange died Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 26, 2010, at North Orange Baptist Church with Reverend Scott McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Sopher, Oklahoma on July 1, 1913, Robert was the son of Ben R. and Mary Brittain Wilson. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. Robert was a member of North Orange Baptist Church, V.F.W. Post 4759 in Starks, Louisiana and the American Legion in Vinton, Louisiana.
He was preceded in death by his grandsons, Johnny Glenn, Jr. and Christopher Wilson; and son-in-law, John Glenn.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ruth Wilson of Orange; daughters, May Glenn of Rowlett, Alice Granhold of Plano, Debbie Mata and her husband, Willie of Houston; and son, Ben Wilson of Orange.
He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, Tamara Glenn, Tommy, Ronnie and Eric Granhold, Servaundo Mata, Jillena Flores, Isaiah Mata, Angie Perkins and Ben Wilson, Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren, Baileigh Perkins, Elliot Perkins, Isaiah Mata, Zack, Maddie, and Jake Granhold, Auriana Mata, Gianna Mata-Flores and Alexandra McCay.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Tommy Granhold, Ronnie Granhold, Eric Granhold, Servaundo Mata, Isaiah Mata, Ben Wilson, Jr., Mickail Gould, Glyn Perkins.
