Rodney Eugene Bird, 61 of Orange, passed away on June 26, 2021, in Houston.

A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 24, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.

Born in Orange, Texas, on September 29, 1959, he was the son of Gerald Lee Bird and Delores Ann (Kennedy) Bird. Rodney worked as a millwright for Local 2484 for many years. He was a man of few words and enjoyed his quiet time alone but also loved sitting down with his nephews and other family to visit. Rodney enjoyed cooking and watching tv. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed by those who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Delores “Maw Maw” Bird; and brother, Gerald “Red” Bird, Jr.

He is survived by his father, Gerald Bird, Sr. of Bridge City; sisters, Charlotte Thompson and husband Denzil of Port Neches and Pam Vaught and husband Ronnie of Orange; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to acknowledge with grateful appreciation, Rodney’s nephew, Jason Staton and his good friend, Jon Cole, for the friendship and care they provided for Rodney.
