Born in Orange, Texas, on August 16, 1935, he was the son of John Lopez and Augustina (Pachuca) Lopez. Roger was a cherished member of the community whose heart and humor left an indelible mark on all who had pleasure of knowing him. Roger was a proud veteran who served in the United States Marines. This experience instilled in him values of discipline and leadership, qualities that he carried into his family life and community endeavors. Roger dedicated his professional life as a Purchasing Agent for Alpha Portland Cement Co., where his work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all. Beyond his career, what truly defined Roger was his vibrant spirit and endearing personality. He had a unique talent for telling terrible jokes that made everyone laugh, and his legendary claim of being "retired four times" never failed to bring a smile. His lighthearted nature and sense of humor turned mundane moments into memorable experiences, especially when he would find ways to embarrass his sons during their childhoods. In addition to his reputation for humor, Roger was also known for his strong leadership at home and within his church. He kept his sons in line, instilling values that shaped them into the remarkable men they are today. He took pride in being a former Deacon at First Baptist Church in Orange. Roger had a passion for exploration and adventure, often found behind the wheel of a car headed toward new horizons or setting sail on a cruise. His love for traveling and antiquing showcased his zest for life, always seeking to collect not only souvenirs but memories that would warm his heart in the years to come. As we bid farewell to Roger, let us remember the profound impact of his life—a life characterized by love, laughter, and the relentless pursuit of joy.
