Roland Gaspard, 61, of Bridge City, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at V.A. Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Bridge City. Officiating will be Deacon Steve Obernuefemann of St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City. Cremation will be under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas on January 29, 1948, Roland was the son of Nolan and Lorraine Lege Gaspard. He served in the U.S. Marines where he proudly served in Vietnam. He also worked as an insulator for Asbestos Local 112. Roland was a member of the Harley Owners Group, loved bowling on various leagues and riding his Harley Sportster!
He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Ervin Gaspard, Glen Gaspard and Wayne Gaspard.
Roland is survived by his wife, Janet Gaspard; son, Mandan Gaspard and his wife, Rhonda of Lumberton; daughter, Mandi Gaspard Potts and her husband, Thomas of Holmwood, Louisiana; and step-daughter, Kristina Hilton of Nederland.
He is also survived by his five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and sister, Susan Merchant of Corpus Christi.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Mandan Gaspard, Thomas Potts, Alan Gaspard, Jesse Scott, Ben Ashworth, Kerry Braquet, Karl Braquet, Cody Simpson and Matthew Simpson.
