Roland LeBoeuf

Roland James LeBoeuf, 89, a 57 year resident of Orange, Texas and a 4 year resident of Beaumont; loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Harbor Hospice after a lengthy hospital and rehabilitation stay. Roland, affectionately known as ?Joe? to his family and friends, was born on November 11, 1917 in Cameron, Louisiana to Louis LeBoeuf and Elizabeth Mudd LeBoeuf.
Roland is preceded in death by his parents, brother ?Buster? LeBoeuf; and sisters-in-law Velma and Leona LeBoeuf. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 63 years, Rowena Vincent LeBoeuf of Beaumont, Texas; daughters Linda Grisham and husband Bobby of Clear Lake, Texas; Debbie Williamson and husband Steve of Beaumont, Texas; grandchildren Wade Chandler and wife Marla of Deer Park, Texas, Darren Chandler and wife Tracie of LaPorte, Texas, Stephen Williamson of Austin, Texas, Heather Tolin and husband John of Round Rock, Texas, and Mike Williamson of College Station, Texas; sweet great-grandchildren Dakota, Dillon, Sarah, Caitlin, and Caroline Chandler, and Miles Tolin and new baby Tolin on the way; brothers Pete LeBoeuf of Amarillo, Texas and Lee LeBoeuf, of Texas City, Texas; sisters ?in-law Rosemary McClelland and husband Jim of Mauriceville, Texas, and Rosella Shelton and husband Glenn of Conroe, Texas; and special cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Roland is an honored and proud WWII veteran serving in the US Navy on the destroyer USS Rodman, receiving several stars, including the Bronze Star Medal, for his heroic action in Okinawa, Southern France, North Africa, Normandy, and Russia. After the war he returned home, married his sweetheart, and began a 31 year career with DuPont in Orange. During this time and following his retirement Joe and his wife, Rowena, spent many years enjoying their favorite hobbies of square dancing and traveling. Joe was a renowned square dance caller, calling for many square dance clubs and functions around the country. He also extended his love of boats and the water by shrimping for many years in his boat, the Linda Kay, during days off from his job.
Roland was a devout member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church in Orange and later St. Anne?s Catholic Church in Beaumont. Roland will lovingly always be remembered as an honest and humble individual who consistently displayed friendship and kindness to all he met. He loved to laugh and sing, enjoying having his family and friends surround him. He is seen as a true ?hero? and role model to his wife, daughters, and grandchildren for the many years of devotion, support, and unconditional love given them. He has touched so many lives and will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
