Rose M. Hancock, 90, of Mauriceville passed away October 4, 2013 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2013 in the chapel at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Glen Anderson of New Testament Apostolic Holiness Church in Longville, LA and Reverend Mack McDonald of The Temple in Mauriceville. A graveside service will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery near Colmesneil.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kevin McDonald, James K. McDonald, Jason Waldrep, Michael Foreman, Larry Bradley and Joe Bendo.
Born in Terry, TX on August 2, 1923, Rose was the daughter of Benjamin and Mary Adelene (Simmons) Walles. For a brief time in the 50’s she worked at the Dell Dixie Pickle Factory in Orange. She was a member of
The Temple in Mauriceville and she enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and drawing portraits.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hartwell Clifton Hancock and siblings, Ruby Lee Waldrep, Lula Rae Peveto, Claude Walles, Trave Walles, Gladys Davis, Hazel Honeycutt, Wilrey Granger and Woodrow Walles.
Mrs. Hancock is survived by her niece who was her caregiver, Patsy McDonald and husband, Mack of Mauriceville niece, Barbara Miles and husband, Jim of Orangefield; sisters, Adelene Hanks and Rena Waldrep and numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews and great great great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her dear friend, Judy Kelly and her special friend, Jean Taylor for their help during this time.
