Roy Joseph Mazzagate, Sr., 94, of Bridge City, Texas passed away Thursday, December 3, 2009, Baptist Hospital Orange.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2009, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange with Reverend Joseph P. Daleo officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Roy was born on March 11, 1915, in Beaumont, Texas. He was the son of Pasquali and Phyllis Molley Mazzagatti. Roy was a project manager for Livingston Shipbuilding Corporation and was also a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Orange. Roy loved to travel and was a semi-pro baseball player and loved all sports in general.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Russell Mazzagate; first wife, JoAnn Mazzagate; sister-in-law, Frances Romano; brothers, Anthony Pavia and Joe Mazzagate; step-father, Tony Pavia, Sr.; and grandson, Jared Mazzagate.
Roy is survived by his wife, Zenaida Mazzagate; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Jim Walters of Beaumont; son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Darlene Mazzagate, Jr. of Orange; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Rosetta Garner of Groves.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Larry Minaldi, David Minaldi, Roy Mazzagate, III, Ronnie Logan, Sr., Ron Logan, Jr. and Jim Walters. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cleon Hogan and John Chavis.
