Ruby Ann (Babineaux) Dalfrey, 83, of Orange, passed away on March 7, 2021, at her home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orange. Officiating will be Father Joseph P. Daleo. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary starting at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Born in Carencro, Louisiana, on August 2, 1937, she was the daughter of Adolph Babineaux, Sr. and Alicia (LeBlanc) Babineaux. Ruby moved to Orange in April 1964. Everyone around town knew her from her 22 years of outstanding customer service at Walgreens in Orange. She formed friendships with everyone she met in her time working at Walgreens, offering her warm smile and loving “Hey, my baby” to anyone who needed their spirits lifted. In her time working she exhibited her hardworking drive, reliability and dedicated work ethic. Ruby won multiple awards including the Customer Hero Award in 2015, Pharmacy Customer Care Award in 2019, and the April Employee of the Month in 2019 by the Bridge City of Chamber of Commerce. She was loved by everyone who was graced by her presence, often receiving gifts and treats from her loyal customers. Ruby loved going to Delta Downs Casino and Racetrack, playing the slot machines, and dancing any chance she got. She loved her Cajun heritage and enjoyed listening to French music. Ruby bowled in the Ball and Chain League from 1976 to 1978. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren & spent her time doting over them and watching them do whatever made them happy. Ruby had a deep love for football, often cheering on her West Orange Stark Mustangs, Houston Texans, Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, and the LSU Tigers. Her heart was bigger than the sky, always concerned about others well-being and doing what she could to make a difference in their lives. Her Walgreens customer and friends would attest that she succeeded. Ruby was small but mighty, and extremely feisty, telling you whatever she felt you needed to hear, whether you liked it or not. She was the life of the party and lit up any room she walked into. Ruby will be deeply missed by all those who had the wonderful experience of meeting her.

She was preceded in death by parents, Adolph and Alicia Babineaux; sisters, Buna Michaud, and Lena Cormier; and brothers, Esmay Babineaux and Adolph Babineaux, Jr.

She is survived by children, Patty Crowell and husband Rick of Orange, Cheryl Stevens and husband Matthew of Orange, Faye Patten and husband Greg Michel of Lake Charles, and Harold “Joey” Dalfrey and wife Emily of Vinton; grandchildren, Monica Crowell Belden and husband Brian, Ryan Crowell and wife Jessica, Matthew Stevens Jr. and wife Lindsay, Heather Childress and husband Kyle, Emily Erin Dalfrey, Robert Patten, Shane Patten and wife Brittany, and Hudson Dalfrey; great-grandchildren, Breanne Belden, Jarrett Belden, Kaleigh Belden, Makinzi Stevens, Logan Stevens, Jada Patten, Paisleigh Patten, Dakota Patten, Harper Crowell, Haylinn Crowell, Justin Shoats, Kylher Childress.

Joey and family, There are people we are blessed to have in our lives and make the smallest, most important impressions of who we are meant to be. Those people expect our best without ever having to say it, want the best for anyone they ever encounter.....absolutely irreplaceable. In our world anymore, people that are true to their wants, beliefs, struggles, and intentional goodness are my most cherished beings, and I am blessed to have had her in my life. I'm 20+years of having interaction, yet I still know her, so you understand the influence. I wish God's blessings and comfort to all of you. Sadness and loss happen, but there is no doubt she'd be angry with any of us for not having the comfort of knowing she is Home, with her Lord and rests in total peace now.....2 Timothy 4:7-8 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, righteous Judge, will give me". Our job is to carry forward her heart and care for the well being for others, more than self......Love you all and in my family's prayers. Meyer family Jimmy

To Ms Ruby's family, I am so saddened by the loss of sweet Ruby! She was such a loving and kind person to all of my family as well as everyone else that she met. My daughter, Tonya, and I wanted to participate in the parade by her house that Walgreen's employees organized a week or so ago, but we were unable to. I'm so sorry that we missed it! Many prayers for all of you! Ronnie, Judy and Tonya Toney
