Rufus (Arnulfo) Reyes, Sr., 78, of Vidor passed away at his home July 2, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born January 13, 1935 to Ventura and Socorro Alviar Reyes in Beaumont, TX.
He retired from Coburn Supply after 23 years of service. Rufus loved life and lived it to its fullest with fast pitch softball, dancing and his family.
For many years he managed the “Beaumont Sports”, a fast pitch softball team and many of those members will honor his impact on their lives by serving as his pallbearers. Mr. Reyes is also a veteran of the US Air Force.
Surviving him are his wife of 59 years, Mrs. Dolores Reyes; sons, Rufus (Arnulfo) Reyes, Jr. of Pasadena and Duke Reyes of Beaumont; daughter, Lisa Sutton and her husband, John, of Warren; his grandson, John Thomas Sutton of Warren; six brothers and seven sisters and four devoted grand-dogs, Moses, Elle Marie, Puppy and Ling-Ling.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, July 4, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. There will be a service celebrating Mr. Reyes’ life Friday, July 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home with interment to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery.
