Russell Lee Jacks, Jr., passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at his home in Bon Wier, Texas. He was born on March 21, 1947, in Miami, Arizona to Russell Lee Jacks, Sr. and Betty Ceal Jacks.
Russell grew up in Oklahoma. He joined the United States Army during the Vietnam Era in 1967. He was honorably discharged in 1969. He attended college at Texas Sate Technical College from 1987 to 1990 where he received an Associated Degree in marketing. He retired in 2006 after 37 years within the workforce. Russell’s hobbies included 10 years as Fire Chief for the Volunteer Fire Department as well as past Reserve Deputy for Newton County. He received many awards and accomplishments from the City of Newton for his community service.
Russell Jacks married Lena Colquitt-Kelly on July 15, 1987, in Waco, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Lee Jacks, Sr. and Betty Ceal Jacks; brothers, Alford Jacks and Joe Wayne Hardy; and his sisters, Cleo Burg and Beatrice Rogers.
Russell is survived by his spouse, Lena Jacks; his children and their spouses, Stacy and Justin Butler, Ginger and Kenny Zientek, Amber and Michael McCutchan, Christopher and Bonnie Kelly, Jessica and John Adaway, and Michael Kelly; and his sisters; Katherine Clayburn, Betty Lou Williams, Erma Jean Sagely, and Mary Bailey. He and Lena had 19 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and 12 nieces and nephews in Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Bible Church, 148 Walthall Rd. and US Hwy 87 North, Newton, Texas, at 11:00 a.m., on July 26, 2017.
