Russell Howard Self, 67, of Orange, passed away on January 1, 2021, at his home in Orange.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 10, 2021, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born in Orange, Texas, on August 22, 1953, he was the son of William E. Self, Sr. and Mary Ann (Braddock) Self. Russell proudly served in the United States Navy. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. Russell was a generous and kindhearted person with a special place in his heart for animals.
He donated to charities, trying to make a difference in any way he could.
In his spare time, you’d find Russell watching a good western, Wicked Tuna, MMA, and Gold Rush. Gold Rush reminded him of his time spent in Colorado prospecting for gold. He will be deeply missed by all who came to know and love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Mary Ann Self, and nephew, Brendon John Self.
He is survived by his special fur-baby, Rocky; siblings, William E. Self, Jr. of Orange, Leslie Self and wife Shawnette of Corpus Christi, Deborah Ellis of Marion, Iowa, Denise Black of Lakeland, Florida, Norman Ray Self and wife Josie of Orange, Linda Illa and husband Mario of Houston, and Tammy Klein and husband John of Marion, Iowa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
