Russell Leon King

August 8, 1923 — November 4, 2010

Russell Leon King, 87, formerly of Orange, died Thursday November 4, 2010 at Calder Woods in Beaumont TX. Funeral services will be Sunday November 7th at 2:00 pm at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 6th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Russell King was born on August 8, 1923 in Woden, Texas and was the proud son of Ernest James and Freddia Eugenia King. In December 1941, Mr. King moved to Orange, Texas to work in the ship yards building ships for World War II. He was later employed by Dupont Sabine River Works where he proudly worked in the Mechanical Department for over forty years until his retirement in 1986. Mr. King was an active member and past president of the Dupont Retirees Club. He was a devoted Christian and a member of Cove Baptist Church for over fifty years where he served as an adult Sunday School teacher. Mr. King was a Master Mason, an avid reader, and gardener. His philosophy of life was "Whenever you do not know what to do, do what you know to do…PRAY."

Mr. King is blessed and survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Billie King; three sons, Ernest James King and his wife, Glenda of Lufkin, TX, Mike King and his wife, Nancy of Beaumont, and Richard King and his wife Susan of Austin TX; twin daughters, Aleta King and Freida King Wilde both of Orange, TX; six grandchildren, Natalie Johnson, Elizabeth Pitman, Michael King, Amy Wagner, Stephen King, and Sherry Turner; and twelve great-grandchildren. Mr. King is also survived by all of his siblings; brothers, Aubrey King of Paradis, LA, James King of Longview, TX; sisters, Wilma Battle of Nacogdoches, TX and Evelyn Mott of Bosier City, LA.
