Ruth Bass

Funeral services for Ruth Z. Bass, 89, of China, Texas will be held Monday, January 2, 2011 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of China. Interment will follow in the China Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont and 10:00 -11:00 a.m. Monday at the church.
Ruth was born February 22, 1922 in Nacogdoches, Texas and passed away December 30, 2011 in Beaumont. She had resided in China since 1971 and was a former resident of Beaumont. Ruth was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church of China and of Sachse, Texas. She loved her churches and church families and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Most importantly, she cherished her family and time caring for and nurturing the many children who called her "Mimi."
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. W. "John" Bass; parents, Oscar and Mae Parrish; and three brothers.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Stewart Gagnon of Houston, Texas, Ruth and Paul Nelson, of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Tiffany and David Hendrix, Ashley and Christopher Steininger, Misty and Grady King; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jason and Courtney Gagnon; great grandchildren, Ethan and Lainey Hendrix,
Shelby and Jackson King, Kiernan and Morrigan Steininger; sisters, Marie Meredino, Ikey Holland, Mildred Moyer; brother, Don Parrish and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
