Ruth Ann Darder, 91, of Bridge City, passed away on August 18, 2020, at home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 4, 2020 at St. Henry Catholic Church in Bridge City. Officiating will be Father Ernie Carpio. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m., at St. Henry Catholic Church.
Born in Port Arthur, Texas, on September 4, 1928, she was the daughter of Anton Holberg and Edith Ann (Hollifield) Holberg. Ruth was a homemaker for many years and went on to work as bookkeeper for Dal Sasso. She participated in the electoral process serving as an election judge. Ruth was a member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church where she was a part of many ministries, Legion of Mary, Alter Society, RCIA, teaching CCD, and prison ministry. Ruth loved spending time traveling, reading, bowling, playing dominos and being involved in her canasta group that played together for over 50 years. She spent many nights at the KC hall for game night and other social activities with the other KC wives. Ruth was an avid Astros fan. She adored her family more than anything and left memories with them that will last a lifetime. Ruth will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Edith Holberg; loving husband of 73 years, Henry John Darder; son, Timothy Joseph Darder; brothers, Bryon Holberg, Joe Holberg, and Robert Holberg.
She is survived by her children, Johnny Darder and wife Becky of Cresson, Cindy Hebert and husband Gerald of Bridge City, Mark Darder and wife Soonyoung of Manassa, Virginia, and Mary Touchstone and husband Daryl of Nederland; grandchildren, Kendall Darder, Craig Darder and wife Heather, Keith Sirmons and wife Estella, Paul Hebert, James Lambert and wife Melissa, Scott Lambert, Christopher Darder and wife Katie, Daniel Darder and wife Camille, Amber James and husband Duncan, Ali Denham and husband Lynn, and Kelli Touchstone; as well as 17 great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandson’s, Kendall, Craig, Keith, Paul, James, Scott, Christopher, and Daniel.
