Lildred Ruth Wilson, 87, of Orange, died Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010, at North Orange Baptist Church with Reverend Scott McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow at Big Woods Cemetery in Edgerly, Louisiana.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Friday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Evangeline, Louisiana on June 30, 1923, Ruth was the daughter of Nelson and Maynora Patin Higginbotham. She worked for Vinton Middle School in the lunch room cafeteria, Delta Downs concessions and was a preschool teacher for a number of years. Ruth taught Sunday School at Crossroads Baptist Church and also worked with Bible School in Vinton, Louisiana.
Ruth was also Chaplain for Starks V.F.W. Post and Ladies Auxiliary one year.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. Wilson; grandsons, Johnny Glenn, Jr. and Christopher Wilson; and son-in-law, John Glenn.
Ruth is survived by her three daughters, May Glenn of Rowlett, Alice Bridie-Granhold of Plano, and Debbie Mata and husband, Willie of Houston; and son, Ben Wilson of Orange.
She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Tamera Glenn, Tom, Ron and Eric Granhold, Servaundo Mata, Jillena Mata-Flores, Isaiah Mata, Angie Perkins, and Ben Wilson, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren, Baileigh and Elliot Perkins, Isaiah Mata, Jr., Auriana Mata, Gianna Mata-Flores, Zack, Jake and Maddy Granhold, and Alexandra McCay; and sister, Gladys Brookins.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Tom Granhold, Ron Granhold, Eric Granhold, Zack Granhold, Servaundo Mata, Isaiah Mata, Ben Wilson, Jr., and Glyn Perkins.
