Sammie Sydney Spector
Sammie Sydney Spector, 95, of Orange, passed away of natural causes at his son's home, James Spector, Monday, February 23, 2009, in Vidor.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be Reverend Kevin Brown of First Baptist Church of Mauriceville. Burial will follow at Hebrew Rest Cemetery in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Sammie was born in Pt. Arthur, Texas on November 6, 1913, the son of Joseph Harry and Sarah Rosen Spector.
He was co-owner of J.H. Spector and Son's Wrecking and Salvage. During WWII, he was a welder leaderman in the shipyard.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Merle Wright Spector; son, David Spector; grandson, Josh Spector; brothers, Murray Spector and Toby Spector; sisters, Violet Ableman and Anita Jimmerson.
Those left to cherish his memory are sons and daughters-in-law, Willie and Patsy Spector of West Orange and James and Rose Spector of Vidor; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Willard Lanier of West Orange and Mollie and Rick Jones of Houston; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Jim Spector, Tom Spector, Tim Spector, Daryl Melancon, D.J. Melancon and Chris McMean.
