Funeral services for Samuel White, 77, of Beaumont, TX will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Johnson Memorial Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Nonette will officiate and interment will follow in the Live Oak Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Mr. White, who was the fifteenth of fifteen children, was born October 26, 1931, in Beaumont, TX, to Clifton White, Sr. and Cora Lee Osborne White and passed away June 8, 2009 in Carthage, TX.
He was an avid golfer and a published poet. He also belonged to the NAACP, volunteered for B.I.S.D., belonged to the Labor Union, and helped build St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.
Mr. White is preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Louis White, and 9 brothers and sisters. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Anna Mouton White; daughter Mary Jewell Henson; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Rickett; son, John Leonard Carriere, Sr.; 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and four brothers and sisters.
